What to tap to add people, debrief meetings, follow up and share your card.
Add someone
There are five ways. Scanning their business card is the quickest.
Scan a business card
Tap + in the bar at the bottom of the screen, then Scan card. Hold the card inside the frame and tap the round button. The name, job title, company, phone number and email are filled in for you.
Scan a stack of cards
Turn on Batch at the top of the camera. Scan up to ten cards, one after another, then tap Done. Check each card in turn, or tap Save all.
Paste an email signature
Copy the signature from the bottom of an email. Tap +, then Paste signature, and paste it in to fill in their details.
Check the details
Nothing is saved until you’ve seen it. Fix anything that’s wrong, then save.
Find them on the web
Type their name and company in Search. If they’re not in Carda yet, tap Search the web, then People. Find their public LinkedIn profile and tap Add. They’re saved with their job title, company and LinkedIn. This is part of Pro.
Other ways
To type someone in yourself, tap +, then Add, then Contact.
To bring in people from your iPhone’s contacts, tap the person button at the top of Home, then Settings, then Import contacts. Only the people you choose are added.
Debrief
After a meeting, say what happened. You get a short note, and anything you promised becomes a follow-up. Debriefs are part of Pro.
Say it or type it
Tap the mic in the bar at the bottom of any screen and talk. Or tap the bar and type. Say who you met and what you talked about. A minute is plenty.
Check the note
Your words turn into a short note on each person’s page. You read it before it’s saved.
Promises become follow-ups
If you said you’d send a proposal by Friday, a follow-up is set for Friday. On the day, it shows in Follow-ups on Home.
Straight from your calendar
On Home, tap Next up to see your day. Tap a meeting that has ended to debrief it. The note goes to the people who were there.
Follow up
A follow-up is a reminder to get back to someone on a day you choose.
Set one
Open the person’s page and tap Follow up. Choose in a day, in a week or in a month, or pick a date.
On the day
It shows in Follow-ups on Home. Tick it when it’s done.
Everything in one list
Actions lists every follow-up and task, sorted by when it’s due. Swipe one to move it to tomorrow or next week.
A debrief adds follow-ups for you when you mention a promise.
Events
Keep a record of every conference, dinner and meetup, and of the people you met there.
Before
Tap + in the bar, then Add, then Event. Turn on I’m going, and set a reminder if you like.
Or find it online. Type its name in Search, then tap Search the web, then Events. Tap Add, and its dates and place are saved. This is part of Pro.
On the day
Open the event and tap Scan as you meet people. Everyone you scan is linked to the event. Tap Speak to add a note out loud.
The event also shows on your lock screen, with a Scan button, so you don’t have to unlock your phone.
Afterwards
When it ends, tap Debrief. Your notes and the people you met become a summary and follow-ups, saved with the event.
Insights
See how many people you spoke to this month, and what else you got done.
What counts
Calls, emails, notes and debriefs count as interactions, up to two per person each week.
Other months
Tap the calendar button at the top to pick another month. Tap a tile to see more.
Set a weekly target
Tap the person button at the top of Home, then Settings, then Your week.
How the days felt
In the evening, Home asks how today felt. Answer it, and Insights shows each day’s answer on a calendar of the month.
Your card
Your card is how people save your details. Keep it up to date, and share it with a tap.
Find your card
Tap the person button at the top of Home, then Your card. You’re also first in Network, marked You.
Fill it in
On your card, tap the menu at the top, then Edit profile. Add your job title, company, email and phone.
Share it in person
Tap your card to turn it over, and let the other person point their camera at the QR code. Or tap the share button at the top to send it.
Keep it in Apple Wallet
Under your card, tap Add next to Apple Wallet, so you can show it without opening Carda. After you change your details, tap Update.
Calendars
Connect your calendar, and your meetings show up in Carda with the people in them.
Connect it
Tap the person button at the top of Home, then Settings, then Calendars, then Allow access. Any calendar on your iPhone works, including a work Google or Outlook account you’ve added there.
Choose which ones
Tick the calendars you want in Carda. Untick one to hide it. Nothing is deleted from your calendar.
Meetings on Home
Your next meeting shows in Next up on Home. Tap it to see the whole day, then tap a meeting to see who’s coming, or to debrief it once it’s over.
